Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms developing in a few parts of the south, rather more widely across Scotland

Today:

Most areas seeing spells of sunshine, and feeling very warm in some inland areas this afternoon, with only light winds. Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms developing in a few parts of the south, rather more widely across Scotland.

Tonight:

Showery rain, some heavy, soon into northern Ireland, reaching other western and southwestern parts later. Showers in Scotland fading, many eastern and northern areas dry but low cloud for some.

Tuesday:

Some parts starting fine but showers becoming increasingly widespread, these heavy and thundery in places and perhaps prolonged. Still some warmer sunny spells in between, especially in the east.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Remaining unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, some heavy and persistent particularly across northern Scotland, with a risk of hail and thunder. Breezy and rather cool for most.
