Motoring experts have offered a helpful tip for drivers as temperatures dip

Drivers don’t have to stand in the cold scraping their icy car windows this winter, as the experts at Driving Test Success have outlined a simple defrosting hack.

In a TikTok video, Driving Test Success said drivers advise motorists to activate their car windscreen fan and turn it to maximum.

They say this will cause the ice to melt instantly, and drivers can then turn the fan back to normal once the windscreen was clear.

The captions said: “Frozen windscreen? Put the temperature on high.

“Put the front windscreen fan on max.

“The ice will start to melt from the heat.

“Wipe away excess water and return the fan to normal."

Many have praised the advice, with one TikTok user commenting: “Wow magic the ice is gone.”

Other commenters are not as appreciative, with one advising: “Just get [out] and scrape it off you lazy so and so.”

The AA have offered advice on the matter, telling road users to “turn on the warm air blower and heated mirrors” to clear frost.

They said: “Start the engine and turn on the warm air blower on the windscreen.

“Switch on the rear windscreen heater and heated mirrors, if you have them.”
