'Rather than talking about taking the knee, we should be talking about what's being done'

England players taking the knee is shifting the focus away from real issues around racism and inequality, former Liverpool player John Barnes has told GB News.

The ex-winger spoke about the Black Lives Matter movement on Brazier and Muroki, telling the presenters it should be an individual choice whether to take the knee.

"Rather than talking about taking the knee, we should be talking about what's being done," said Barnes.

"For racial injustice, inequality in the inner cities, knife crime, I'm gonna have to see something being done.

"Because we're not seeing anything being done, all we're seeing is the conversation as to whether we should be taking a knee or not.

"So the longer this goes on, the more it detracts from the real issues of what we're actually trying to do."
