William and Kate fly to America this week for a three-day trip culminating on Friday.
The couple are said to be excited about their first international trip since becoming the Prince and Princess of Wales, titles with a long history, but they are keen to forge their own paths.

The author has said the royals’ coming within such close proximity of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will cause friction and lead to comparisons being drawn between the two couples.
Historian and biographer Amanda Lucy Foreman said there would be “direct, peer-to-peer comparison” as the “royal smackdown of sorts” takes place.
