King Charles III: Man pleads guilty to throwing an egg at monarch

A man has pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates Court to throwing an egg towards King Charles III.
Harry May, 21, from Moreton Road South, threw an egg at the King during a walkabout in December 2022 that took place in Luton.
During the incident the King was temporarily steered away from crowds at Luton Town Hall by security staff.
Prosecutor Jason Seetal told Westminster Magistrates' Court that May was detained after officers saw him throw a projectile towards Charles.

The King was not hit by the egg and it landed on the floor.
After the incident, King Charles III resumed shaking hands with members of the public in a different area.
Charles was visiting Luton see the new cable-drawn Dart passenger transit system.
Seetal said regarding May's motive for throwing the egg: "He did this because he believed the King visiting a town like Luton, which is a deprived and poor area, was in bad taste and he wanted to make a point of this".
