Nigel Farage says there is ‘a big lesson’ to be learnt from Nicola Sturgeon’s leadership

GB New presenter Nigel Farage has slammed Nicola Sturgeon as “the most unpleasant person” he has ever met as he celebrated her resignation after eight years.

Sturgeon announced that she will stand down as First Minister, arguing that resigning is the best step for herself, her party and for Scotland.

Farage responded to her resignation with joy as he suggested “a big lesson” can be taken from Sturgeon’s announcement.

He said: “I think she is just about the most unpleasant person I have ever met in politics, anywhere in the world.

“There’s a big lesson here, one we can all, I think can take great heart from.

“So often people who have got traditional views, people who believe in Christianity, who people in the family, who believe in our traditions, our history and our culture, those of small-c conservative values get very down and very depressed.

“I get emails from some of you every day saying, it's all over, it's a disaster, we can't win. The woke agenda is marching forward.

"And yet the big lesson from this is that Sturgeon went way too far with her radical trans agenda.”

In a shock announcement on the SNP leader said she believes the “time is now” to stand aside but denied reacting to “short-term pressures” after a series of political setbacks.

The First Minister has suffered a series of political challenges in recent months as her Government tried to push through gender reforms.

Her Gender Recognition Reforms (Scotland) Bill, which removes the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria to acquire a gender recognition certificate (GRC) was passed by the Scottish Parliament in late 2022 but was blocked by Westminster.

Farage added: “The idea that a 16 year old without any medical consultation in Scotland could simply change their gender, well, she may have thought that was wonderful and she, after all, was the Queen of Woke.

“But 80 per cent of Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom did not think this was a good idea.”

Sturgeon rose to power unopposed after the ill-fated independence referendum in 2014, taking over from Alex Salmond.

Farage said: “The lesson from the Sturgeon's situation is the pendulum can swing back.

“She's trashed everything that Salmond and she had fought for, and at the end of the day, Scotland is better off, I think, staying part of the United Kingdom.

“We can beat the radical left, we can beat the woke loonies. Today is a day to celebrate, take heart and say to ourselves, we're going to fight even harder for common sense in the future.”
