The wife of the accused star has returned back to the UK to live with him and their child

The wife of an Everton footballer who was arrested on suspicion of child sexual offences will not be leaving her husband.

The player had their bail extended on Friday, however he cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Police entered his Greater Manchester mansion last summer and "seized several items", the Sun reported.

Following the player's arrest, his wife went back to the town she comes from.

However she has since returned to live with the Everton player again, in London with their child.

According to The Sun, a source said: “They’re a strong family unit.”

The player had twice previously had his bail extended by Greater Manchester Police.

Following his arrest in July 2021, the Everton player was freed on bail until October 19 last year.

This extension was increased to Sunday 16 January 2022, and then again to Wednesday 19 January.

It has now been extended once more to April 2022.

Everton are supporting Greater Manchester Police with their enquiries and the player remains suspended by the club.

The player is yet to be charged.
