Management at the tourism centre said they wanted to stand against an "appalling act of aggression"

Dan Yr Ogof – The National Showcaves Centre for Wales – says it has banned Russian Embassy officials, oligarchs and any Putin sympathisers from their Welsh tourist attraction.

The caves are one of the oldest tourism attractions in Wales and organisers hoped other businesses would be able so show their solidarity for the people of Ukraine.

Management at the tourism centre said they wanted to stand against an “appalling act of aggression”, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Ukrainian refugees have also been offered free entry to the caves, which are located in the Brecon Beacons National Park, and a Ukrainian flag will be flown at the main entrance to the caves.

Ashford Price, chairman of the Showcaves, told the Daily Post that staff had expressed a wish to do something to express horror at the “wanton destruction” currently occurring in Ukraine.

Mr Price added: “We will be donating to the Ukrainian Appeal fund, but also want to express our total horror at the way Putin and his generals are killing innocent people, destroying their homes, and laying waste Ukrainian cities.

“To this end, Russian officials in Embassies, Putin supporters, and oligarchs are not welcome at the caves this season.”
