The Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK has pleaded for more support from the country’s allies, saying he wants to see “boots on the ground.”

Speaking to Nigel Farage on GB News, Vadym Prystaiko voiced his concerns and “fears” that Russia were ready to strike at any minute.

“That’s what we fear. It’s not just us, but our partners in NATO and around the globe start to understand what we’ve been saying for so many years that they are coming to something.

“They will have to do something. They can’t keep thousands of troops at our border.”

Britain is providing further “self-defence” weapons and training to Ukraine amid concerns over a possible Russian invasion.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said light anti-armour defensive weapons systems would be supplied to Ukraine, with a “small number” of UK personnel travelling to the country to provide training.

The announcement came after he warned tens of thousands of Russian troops are positioned next to the Ukrainian border, explaining the deployment is “not routine” and they are equipped with tanks, armoured fighting vehicles, rocket artillery and short-range ballistic missiles.

But Mr Prystaiko does not believe this is enough.

“These hundred people came to let our people about the equipment we received, so their mission is quite limited. They will go back.

“But frankly, as a Ukrainian who is under threat, a 40 million-plus nation is under threat, I would ask all our partners to help with everything they can.

“I also expect any sorts of help, boots on the ground as well.”
