A closer look at today's weather...

Today:

Some northern parts brighter with odd coastal showers. Many central parts keeping grey, low cloud, and some fog. Southern areas seeing patchy rain edging north, heavier rain sliding along south coastal counties later. Mild except parts of northern Scotland.


Tonight:

Heavy showery rain clearing southeastern areas, then the south windy, mild, with scattered showers. Rain arriving across central slice of UK towards morning. Northern areas drier with possible frost.

Tuesday:

Rain across Northern Ireland, northern England, north Wales and southern Scotland, gradually easing away eastwards but staying mostly cloudy. The south mild and windy with scattered showers, the north drier.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Generally changeable, with spells of wet and windy weather, but also some drier and brighter interludes. Persistent, heavy rain for western hills at times. Very mild, especially in the south.
