A closer look at today's weather...

Today:

Most places will see a dry day with sunny periods, although more cloud than on Saturday across the southwest and Northern Ireland, perhaps with a little light rain in places. Risk of showers in the far southeast later. Breezy.

Shoppers in Nottingham city centre queue for an ice cream during good weather. Temperatures are set to soar to 15C to 18C across the UK , levels well above average for March. The highest temperatures will be reached in north-west Scotland, where the mercury could hit 20C in some sheltered glens. Picture date: Saturday March 19, 2022.

Tonight:

Any showers in the east clearing, then clear spells allowing a frost and some patchy fog. Cloudier and breezier in the far west, perhaps with a few spots of rain.

Monday:

Risk of a little rain in the northeast for a time and in some western parts, else variable cloud and sunny spells. Temperatures above average in the south.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Largely fine and dry, although some thicker cloud will affect the far north at times. Very mild by day, but chilly by night with some frost, mist and fog likely.
