A transgender child rapist is being segregated in a men’s jail due to the risk she poses if she was to be moved to a women’s prison, according to reports.

Marcia Walker, 48, is currently being housed in the high security Frankland Jail in Durham – a category A male prison.

Walker, who was previously named Mark Walker, was jailed for 13 years in 2003 for raping two girls, one of whom was aged four.

While she has also served time for assault and bomb hoaxes.

But prison bosses have decided to keep Walker in the male prison due to the risk she possesses should she move to a women’s jail.

Fellow inmates are said to be “furious” about the decision, which means they are kept in their cells for 45 minutes while Walker washes and eats, according to the Sun.

The Sun, quoting a source, said: “There is a lot of anger at the jail but it’s a Catch-22 situation.

“She has to be treated as a woman but cannot be moved to a female prison because she poses a risk.

“And, as she’s legally a woman, she must be kept apart from male inmates.”

While the Prison Service told MailOnline: “Transgender prisoners do not receive special treatment and have access to the same facilities as male prisoners.”
