Boris Johnson will face another five letters of no confidence in his Tory Party leadership

The so-called 'Cream Tea Coup' will see another five MPs hand in letters of no confidence in Boris Johnson in the coming days.

Two Devon MPs have joined a Sir Gary Streeter, Anthony Mangnall and Tobias Ellwood in demanding the Prime Minister to step down over the 'partygate' scandal.

Fourteen MPs have currently called for Boris Johnson to step down, seven of which have publicly said they have a put in letters to demand a ballot.

According to The Times, the five MPs include longstanding MP Sir Gary and Anthony Mangnall MP.

This comes as former Cabinet minister David Davis has warned that Boris Johnson is facing “a death of a thousand cuts” if he continues to cling on to office.

Out of the 16 events Ms Gray looked into, 12 are subject to a Metropolitan Police investigation, with Mr Johnson reportedly attending as many as six of those possible gatherings being probed by officers.

As details have emerged, a host of the Tory rebels have confirmed they have submitted letters of no confidence in Mr Johnson’s leadership, while other critics have kept their counsel over whether they want a vote on the future of his tenure.

Allies of Mr Johnson however insist it is not the moment for a leadership contest at a time of heightened international tensions over Ukraine.

Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries tweeted: “Sue Gray’s findings have been published & the changes she recommends will be implemented. The PM has apologised for what happened & how it was handled.

“Now we need to build back from Covid, level up our country & deliver on the benefits of Brexit. That’s what the PM will do.”
