Mr Bower believes Mr Blair "lied and destroyed so many things" during his time in office

Tony Blair was a “terrible failure” as Prime Minister, Tom Bower has told Nigel Farage.

The investigative journalist and author previously wrote a book on the former PM titled ‘Broken Vows: Tony Blair The Tragedy of Power’.

Mr Bower believes Mr Blair "lied and destroyed so many things" during his time in office between 1997 and 2007.

Speaking on GB News’ Talking Pints, Mr Bower told Nigel: “When you say Tony Blair was a successful Prime Minister, yes in your terms he was because he won elections.

“But in my terms, he was a terrible failure.

“And the book, which I think of the 26 I’ve written is the most important, exposes how Blair was actually a rather poor Prime Minister.

“He lied about so many things, destroyed so many things, not least the Iraq War.

“But also on the health service and on education, he was bad on the army.

“On energy, the reason there is an energy problem now, he started it.

“All those things started under Blair and I found that fascinating because he had got the media on his side.

"Everyone was saying how marvellous he was and I discovered the truth but literally interviewing the civil servants at the bottom of the pile and working my way up to discover the truth.”
