Teacher awarded police prize for tackling knifeman in school stabbing banned from classroom for life after recording teen pupil's behind on his mobile

A Midlands teacher once heralded for his heroism in tackling a knife-wielder in a school has been banned from teaching for life after being caught recording a 16-year-old's rear on his mobile.

David Stus, 41, apprehended a knifeman who stabbed 14-year-old pupil Chloe West nine times in 2011 at Ridgewood High School in Stourbridge.

However, in 2019, videos emerged of a girl moving things from a vehicle and around the side of a property - David Stus' home address.

The teenage girl was at Stus' address to pick up a barbecue for bonfire night.

When the girl, known as Child A, was bending to pick up items, the footage taken on Stus' phone focused on the girl's bottom.

Although police didn't take further action after an investigation, the school investigated the incident.

Stus is now barred from teaching after a hearing in Coventry.

Stus insisted the recording was deleted, but conceded he took the footage but that it was an accident.

The Teaching Regulation Agency however disagreed, saying: 'One clip showed Child A picking up an item, with a close-up of her bottom. Mr Stus remains behind Child A and follows her as she walks to the kitchen.

'Apart from a brief moment at 0:10, the footage remains centred on Child A's rear for the entirety of that time period.

'For the vast majority of this period the footage is not shaky and it does not deviate from a view of Child A from behind.'
