Valery Morozov suggests Putin is a very particular man with keen attention to detail, who does not tolerate failure or disappointment

Russian exile and political analyst Valery Morozov has told GB News that when President Putin promises to do something “he will do it”.

As the UK’s Defence Secretary Ben Wallace warns that Russia has a significant force that would overwhelm Ukraine, Morozov’s words to GB News this morning suggest Putin may need to be provided with an out to save face.

Morozov suggests Putin is a very particular man with keen attention to detail, who does not tolerate failure or disappointment.

Morozov says he has fought the Kremlin and won in court, but he remains clearly unwilling or unable to go too far in criticising Putin, who he says is “prohibited to touch me and my family".

He highlighted what he observed as a problem in how western countries viewed Russia, namely that China may be viewed as “different”, but Russia is treated “as strange” but not too different from the West, when it actually is.

As Sir John Sawers, former head of spy agency MI6, says the risk of a “full-blooded” Russian invasion of Ukraine was never as high as some Western governments portrayed and has now “receded”, future problems are likely to continue to rise if misunderstandings over culture continue.

Perhaps sensibility may yet come from an expected quarter that westerns can understand, as former heavyweight champion, Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko, says he hopes for a “last-minute” diplomatic solution between Russia and Ukraine.
