Russell Brand has left a couple heartbroken after cancelling their wedding.

The 42-year-old teetotal comedian - who married Laura Gallacher in 2017 after divorcing from popstar Katy Perry - recently purchased a Grade II-listed pub, named the Crown Inn, in Pishill, Oxon.

As part of the takeover he refused to take over any wedding bookings made at the venue.

Stephanie Wareham and her fiancé Stephen Hare were due to get married at the Crown Inn on May 28, 2022.

The couple who planned to say I do, when at their best friend’s wedding on November 1, were told that the Crown Inn had been sold to new owners who refused to take over any bookings next year.

Stephanie said: “‘Russell Brand cancelled my wedding’ is not something I ever thought I’d say. We’re over the initial shock and upset of our wedding being cancelled and have decided to just do a small registry office ceremony in Henley-on-Thames instead, but it’s quite sad that Russell has been allowed to enjoy two of his own weddings and yet he’s prevented us from having one."

“You’d definitely think he would have the money to compensate all the devastated couples he’s let down by cancelling their weddings as a gesture of good will so I’ll wait to hear from him.”

The venue sent refunded the couple’s £1,400 deposit, but are set to lose around £1,500 in non-refundable deposits for other wedding expenses.
