A prisoner has been charged with the murder of a fellow inmate at HMP Maidstone.
Sasan Rabit was arrested in connection with the death of 24-year-old Stefan Adi, who died at the Kent prison on Thursday.
Rabit, also 24, was charged with murder and is to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised a charge of murder following the death of an inmate in HMP Maidstone.
“Kent Police was called to the prison following concerns for the welfare of an inmate at 3.33pm on Thursday December 9 2021.
“The South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and the man, aged in his 20s, was declared deceased at the scene by medical crews.
“Sasan Rabit, who is 24 and an inmate at the prison, was charged with murder in the early hours of Saturday December 11 2021.
“The victim was named Stefan Adi, aged 24.”
