It appears there has been no public comments from William’s brother Prince Harry on the matter

Prince William is supportive of the plans announced by his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, of making his step-mother Queen consort when Prince Charles becomes King.

It is understood that the Duke of Cambridge did not take part in the decision making process, however remains ‘respectful’ of the Queen’s bold decision.

“The Duke is supportive”, said a source to the Daily Mail.

Prince William undoubtedly had an uneasy relationship with future Queen Camilla at first but it is understood that he is pragmatic about the role she plays in the Duke’s life, including the future of the monarchy.

Over recent years the relationship Prince William has with his father has growth from strength to strength, historical reports about family disagreements over Camilla are likely to no longer be the case.

“None of this can have been easy for him,” one insider said.

“There were huge family rows in the early stages of Charles and Camilla's marriage as everyone found their feet. William didn't have the best relationship with his father back then.”

“But he sees that Camilla had made his father happy and it is something he has come to terms with.”

Wider afield it appears there has been no public comments from William’s brother Prince Harry on the matter.

It is likely William still believes there is a role for him to play in championing the legacy of his late mother Princess Diana, he will undoubtedly not shy away from protecting her memory.

It emerged at the start of the week that some years ago Prince Charles altered his coronation vows to mention ‘Queen’ Camilla, with the blessing of his mother the monarch.

Sources suggest this change could have taken place as many as five years ago.

On Saturday, the Queen announced that the Duchess of Cornwall will become Queen Consort when her husband accedes to the throne.

Camilla is set to use the Queen Mother's platinum and diamond crown when Charles is made king, this crown was created for King George VI's coronation in 1937.
