"The funny thing is most people didn't recognise him or care," said one attendee

Prince Harry was spotted attending Stockyards Rodeo in Fort Worth, Texas, this Saturday. Pictures posted on social media showed him sporting an on-theme cowboy hat.

An attendee of the event expressed surprise over the Duke of Sussex’s attendance given his wife Megan Markle's animal rights activism.

“Given he has such a lack of respect for the first amendment and his wife is such an animal rights activist, it is shocking he thought he could show his face here.

"The funny thing is most people didn't recognise him or care," they told the Daily Mail.

Meghan has been open in her aversion towards blood-sports and reportedly talked Harry out of attending the royal family's annual boxing-day fox hunts.

Leaders of the Stockyards Rodeo thanked the Duke for attending their event.

In an Instagram post, Cindy Reid, Stockyards Rodeo secretary said: Where was Prince Harry Saturday night? Oooh, just hanging out behind the bucking chutes at the Stockyards Championship Rodeo! Thank you for the visit!"

Rodeo events tend to usually involve events such as calf roping, steer wrestling, bareback horse and bull riding, saddle bronc riding, steer roping and barrel racing.

The American tradition has come under a lot scrutiny by animal rights groups criticise who say broncos and bulls are tormented and injured by cowboys.
