In videos posted to social media, a man and a woman were heard shouting about Savile to the Labour leader, as he walked with David Lammy.

Boris Johnson has responded after police officers stepped in to protect Keir Starmer when a group, some protesting against Covid measures, followed him from outside Scotland Yard.

On at least two videos posted to social media, a man and a woman were heard shouting about Savile to the Labour leader, as he walked with shadow foreign secretary David Lammy.

At least one person was heard repeatedly shouting about “protecting peadophiles”.

Boris Johnson tweeted: "The behaviour directed at the Leader of the Opposition tonight is absolutely disgraceful.

"All forms of harassment of our elected representatives are completely unacceptable. I thank the police for responding swiftly."

In response to the protesters MP David Davis told GB News: “These demonstrations show the risk of making a frankly tasteless comments like that.

"Sir Keir Starmer is not guilty of anything with respect to Jimmy Saville. The Prime Minister shouldn’t have said it, he should retract it and he should in turn apologise.”

Last week, an under-pressure Mr Johnson accused Sir Keir of having “used his time prosecuting journalists and failing to prosecute Jimmy Savile”.

Earlier in the day, the UK Freedom Convoy rallied at Westminster to protest mandatory Covid vaccinations and restrictions.

Speaking exclusively outside Scotland Yard to GB News, Piers Corbyn called for the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to "resign and reverse Covid restrictions." Corbyn said that the protesters were standing in solidarity with the movement in Canada, saying "we support the truckers."

Mr Corbyn also spoke out against Boris Johnson's coronavirus measures in England and demanded that the Prime Minister resigned.

Wearing a campaign T-shirt branded with the words "resist, defy and don't comply", the activists repeated this message against mandatory Covid restrictions and called for "an accountable future."

One Freedom Convoy protester, called Val, told GB News: "we are not living in a free country, and we do not have free choice."

The mental health worker said: "The tyranny has got to stop. I am concerned about my grandchildren."

Another protester, Joe Ward, told GB News their motivation behind attending the rally: "We want the freedom of choice."

"We are not extreme people. We are not far-right and we are not asking everybody to march on Downing Street."

Scotland Yard said two arrests were made following clashes between police and protesters on the Victoria Embankment after Sir Keir was taken to safety.

A Metropolitan Police statement said: “Shortly after 5.10pm on Monday, February 7, a man who had been surrounded by a group of protesters near to New Scotland Yard, was taken away from the scene by a police car.

“A man and a woman were arrested at the scene for assault of an emergency worker after a traffic cone was thrown at a police officer.

“They have been taken into custody.”

It was understood Sir Keir was not harmed during the incident.

After he was taken to safety, an officer was called a “pathetic little thug” during angry exchanges.

Protesters were seen displaying signs opposing mandatory vaccination and the use of restrictions to prevent Covid-19 deaths.
