Pensioners could claim up to a further £278.70 per week from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
This is due to a Pension Credit scheme which could help those most in need as the cost-of-living crisis continues to bite.
There are currently two variations of Pension Credit – a Guarantee Credit and a Savings Credit.
The Guarantee Credit offers pensioners on a lower incomes a higher level of support.

Those who are single could earn up to an extra £182.60 a week through the Guarantee Credit.
While the scheme could hand people with a partner an extra £278.70 per week.
Savings Credit offers a lower level of support for those who have earn more money.
But those on the scheme will still receive a weekly bonus of £14.48 if they are single and £16.20 if they have a partner.
The Government website states that pensioners "might get extra help if you’re a carer, severely disabled, or responsible for a child or young person".
Those who wish to apply for the credit can go to the Gov.uk website and submit the online form.
