Russian fighters are yet to take the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv

GB News presenter Nigel Farage has said "the end is coming" for Vladimir Putin, as influential Russians begin to turn on their leader.

This comes as the owner of the Evening Standard newspaper Lord EvgenyLebedev used his platform to publicly call on Putin to call off his invasion.

Lord Lebedev used the front page of the publication to write an open letter to Putin, asking the Russian leader to bring the "terrible conflict in Ukraine to an end."

Peace talks held today between the Russia and Ukraine in Belarus, failed to find a ceasefire agreement.

Further, the Kremlin has come in for criticism after blaming Foreign Secretary Liz Truss for Vladimir Putin's decision to order Russia’s nuclear deterrent to be on high alert.

The Russian president said he had placed Moscow’s nuclear forces on a “special regime of combat duty” in response to “aggressive statements” from members of the Nato defence alliance.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov went further on Monday, blaming the escalation during Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine on Ms Truss.

“Statements were made by various representatives at various levels on possible altercations or even collisions and clashes between Nato and Russia,” he told a press briefing, the Interfax news agency reported.

“We believe that such statements are absolutely unacceptable. I would not call the authors of these statements by name, although it was the British foreign minister.”
