Mr Trump was banned from the social media site back in 2021 for breaking its policies regarding inciting violence

Nigel Farage has said he’s “certain” Donald Trump will soon be back on Twitter.

Mr Trump was banned from the social media site back in 2021 for breaking its policies regarding inciting violence.

On Monday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk clinched a deal to buy Twitter in a deal worth $44billion, which is around £35billion.

And Nigel has told GB News that the takeover is “exciting” news.

He told Dan Wootton Tonight: “I generally think that it really is a moment to think that the pendulum has gone so far in the illiberal direction, this could be the moment that it swings back. It’s a very exciting day.”

Since the takeover, Mr Trump has said that he won’t go back on Twitter and instead staying on his own Truth Social platform.

But when asked whether the former US President will end up returning to Twitter, Nigel replied: “Trump won the election through Twitter, Brexit won through social media.

“And then the giants on the West Coast realised ‘oh my god we created this monster to go round the back of mainstream media, we can’t be doing with it.

“I’m certain Trump will be back on Twitter, connecting directly with tens of millions of people from 5:30am East Coast time every day, to the joy of many, to the horror of others.

“I wish him well, of course I do with his Truth Social platform.

“But the fact is, for anyone to challenge the prominence and dominance of Twitter, of these giants, takes billions and many, many years so I think Trump will be back and our lives will more interesting as a result of it.”
