'Of course, at election time, they'll tell you they're fighting cancel culture and they're standing up for free speech', said Mr Farage

Nigel Farage has branded "many" members of the Conservative Government as "woke warriors" as it emerges a hospital in Liverpool is asking men if they are pregnant, after the Government replaced the word female from law governing medical procedures with "individuals".

Covering the story on GB News, Mr Farage said: "There are so many stupidities around the world..."

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool, in accordance with the Government's rewording of the law, is reported to be asking men as well as women if they are pregnant prior to their scans.

Having a scan whilst pregnant can be unsafe for the child.

Mr Farage took aim at the Government over the law change: "It says a lot about this so-called Conservative government.

"They in their own way are actually, many of them, woke warriors themselves."

He went on to argue the Tories will be insulated from criticism on these issues at the next election.

He said: "...of course, at election time, they'll tell you they're fighting cancel culture and they're standing up for free speech and traditional British values.

"And they'll do something about the universities."

Mr Farage continued: "And they make these promises over and over.

"Millions of British people are taken in with it and say, 'ah thank goodness, they've come to their senses at last', and then absolutely nothing happens."

The GB News host then criticised the attempts to move away from traditional conceptions of gender.

"This attempt to obliterate the identities male and female is wholly ridiculous", he said.

The Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer is also under pressure to clarify his party's position on gender issues.

"By the way Keir Starmer's Party is in a far worse place - they can't even define what a woman is.

"I think there's a very big silent majority out there that says this is all a complete load of rubbish."
