A group of NHS workers have launched a legal campaign against the Government to overturn the vaccine mandate, GB News can reveal.

Eight healthcare staff led by the doctor who challenged Sajid Javid earlier this month, Steve James, submitted a document to the High Court calling for a judicial review.

It says more than 100,000 unvaccinated workers face the sack if they don’t get the first dose by February 3 and the second on April 1.

They are being backed by campaign groups Together and NHS100K with solicitor firm Jackson Osborne representing them.

The 32-page document claims “the regulations fall outside the ambit of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and are unlawful and that the decision to make the regulations is itself unlawful, irrational, and disproportionate”.

It challenges the lawfulness of the push to get NHS workers jabbed on five grounds: that the Health Secretary, Mr Javid, does not have the legal authority to impose a mandate, staff should not have to disclose medical history, they are victims of discrimination, testing of the vaccine’s ability to reduce transmission is insignificant and a lack of inquiry.

Campaigners are now asking for supporters to sign a declaration backing the legal challenge, which says the mandate is “a form of coercion, a breach of the fundamental right to privacy and bodily autonomy, an attack on the need for informed consent in respect of any medical treatment” and is “discriminatory and divisive”.

It concludes by saying it is “an insult to those for whom the public clapped in 2020, safe to work until 31 March 2022 but dismissed as unsafe and unwanted from 1 April 2022”.

The declaration can be found on Togetherdeclaration.org.
