Mr Gove said when the government makes mistakes 'we apologise'

Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Michael Gove MP, has exclusively told GB News that waiting for the Met Police's investigation into alleged parties in Downing Street and Whitehall "is frustrating."

Speaking to Breakfast with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, Mr Gove said: "When it comes to the actual allocation of responsibility for these events, then we just need to wait for the Met inquiry, now I know that is frustrating, I know it is frustrating for [GB News] viewers."

He said he was still a "100% supporter" of the Prime Minister and stated the government's strategy was evidence of Boris Johnson "keeping faith" with the mission given to him by voters in 2019 "to deliver on what people asked us."

Mr Gove said when the government makes mistakes "we apologise" but added he wanted to "get on with the job" to ensure a shift of wealth and power to people who "have been overlooked and undervalued for too long."

Levelling Up "is the central mission of government" and Mr Gove told GB News viewers that power and wealth had been concentrated in London and the Southeast for too long.
