A serving Metropolitan police officer has been charged with multiple serious offences, including “intentional strangulation.”
PC Thomas Andrews also faces charges of actual bodily harm and criminal damage.
The charges follow an incident which happened around 1am on Saturday, at a residential address in Brockley Rise, in south east London.
Patrolling officers were alerted by a member of the public to an incident.
At the scene, officer spoke to a man, who identified himself as an off duty police officer, attached to the Met’s Central South Command Unit.

A woman at the same location, who police said was known to the off duty officer, reported she had been assaulted and her phone damaged.
PC Andrews was arrested at the scene and charged with multiple offences today.
The officer was held in custody over the weekend and appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court today, to face the charges, which include three counts of Intentional Strangulation.
The police constable, who has been suspended from duty, was remanded back into custody.
He will appear at Woolwich Crown Court on 8 August.
