The Duchess of Sussex joined in on a reading event with families from the British team in The Hague

Meghan Markle has showed off her maternal side in previously unseen pictures from her visit to the Invictus Games.

The Duchess of Sussex joined her husband Prince Harry for the first few days of the games.

During a book reading event on Sunday, Meghan joined families from the British team.

She sat on the floor in a circle surrounded by excited children, who also got the opportunity to paint with the Duchess.

Meghan smiles during the event

Images released by the British Embassy showed Meghan smiling as she was interacting with the children as a veteran soldier read an extract from a book.

Meghan reportedly expressed a wish to attend the reading to be close with children after revealing that she missed her own, Archie and Lilibet, who remained at home in the US.

This comes after Harry vowed not to rest until he’s “made the world a better place” for his children.

The Duke of Sussex said he wants his young children to grow up “in a fairer world, a safer world, a more equal world”.

He continued: “It's not going to be easy but I will never, ever, ever rest until I have as a parent at least tried to make the world a better place for them because it is our responsibility that the world is the way it is now.

“I don't think that we should be bringing children into the world unless we're going to make that commitment to make it better for them. We cannot steal your future.”

Meghan has now left the Invictus Games and returned to the US, while Harry is expected to remain in The Hague until the event’s conclusion on April 22.
