Tyler Perry joined NBC’s 'Today with Hoda and Jenna' on Wednesday morning, where he opened up about why he offered his home to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to live in when they moved the US.

It comes after the actor, producer and director leant his Southern Californian home when the couple first moved to America in 2020 after they left their senior roles within the royal family.

Meghan, Prince Harry and their son Archie Harrison, lived in Perry's Beverly Hills mansion for a few months before buying a home in Montecito.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed that she had never met the actor and filmmaker before she and her family stayed in his Los Angeles estate.

In her interview with The Cut, she revealed that Mr Perry got in touch when she married Prince Harry in 2019 to let her know he was praying for her and that he "understood what this meant, and that he could only imagine what it was like."

Perry also said he'd always be available for support or advice.

Speaking to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on NBC’s Today Wednesday, Perry said: “Yes, it was a very difficult time for them. What I know about the two of them, that I wish the world knew, is how much they love."

"These two people love each other. The love they have is really, really moving and I just wanted to do anything I could to support them.” he added.

When asked about Harry and Meghan's relationship, Mr Perry said “If I don't have that, what she and Harry have, I don't want it. That's really amazing.”
