One person said "our gal (Meghan) never misses a beat" following the gesture during the event in New York

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been dubbed an “amazing couple” after the Duchess of Sussex helped a woman during her husband’s UN speech.

The incident came after a woman, who was sat behind Meghan and Harry during the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, began coughing.

As the cameras panned to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan was seen passing a bottle of water back to the woman in a bid to clear her throat.

Meghan’s gesture has been praised by many on social media.

During the speech, Harry said: “How many of us feel battered, helpless in the face of the seemingly endless stream of disasters and devastation, I understand.

“This has been a painful year in a painful decade.

“We’re living through a pandemic that continues to ravage communities in every corner of the globe.

“Climate change wreaking havoc on our planet, with the most vulnerable suffering most of all.

“The few weaponising lies and disinformation at the expense of the many.”

While the Duke also referred to the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn the Roe vs Wade abortion law as the “rolling back of constitutional rights”.

He added: “And from the horrific war in Ukraine to the rolling back of constitutional rights here in the US, we are witnessing a global assault on democracy and freedom.”
