The Manchester United forward's debut book draws on his experiences of relying on breakfast club's and free school meals as a child

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has revealed the front cover of his debut children's book, 'The Breakfast Cluib Adventures: The Beast Beyond the Fence.'

Rashford wrote the book, which is due out later this year, in conjunction with author Alex Falase-Koya - it's illustrated by Marta Kissi.

Rashford wrote on Twitter: "Excited to reveal the cover of my first children’s fiction book ‘The Breakfast Club Adventures: The Beast Beyond the Fence’, written with Alex Falase-Koya and illustrated by Marta Kissi.

"Breakfast Club had a huge impact on my life and I wanted to be able to instil important life values through adventure based in the Breakfast Club space where I learnt a lot about myself and those around me.

"I can’t wait to see how children react to the mystery of this one."

Rashford's book is drawn on his experiences as a child at school breakfast clubs. He has previously spoken out on his family's reliance on them when he was growing up.

The Manchester United attacker has also supported a cross-party parliamentary bill to fund free school breakfasts.

The book is being released on May 26, with pre-orders available now.

Marcus Rashford was last year recognised by a school in Richmond, which renamed one of its houses after the footballer, in place of the wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

The names of Sir Winston Churchill and JK Rowling were removed from houses at the Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School in London, in a bid to be “more diverse”.

The 24-year-old forward recently received criticism after a video appeared to show Rashford walking past fans outside Old Trafford after a Champions League game, hearing something shouted, and then attempting to head towards them before being ushered away by security.

He then appeared to make a gesture with his hand to the fans as he walks away.

Rashford posted a message on Twitter, saying: “There are two sides to every story.

“A video can paint a thousand words and in this case lead to inaccurate info being shared on social media."
