A 28-year-old male tourist was allegedly raped by two men after being dragged towards an old riverbed while visiting a popular Spanish holiday hotspot.

The individual told Spanish police how he was attacked on the last night of his break away to the east coast city of Valencia.

The assault occurred after the tourist agreed to go for a walk with two men he had just met in the neighbourhood of El Carmen in the early hours of June 18.

The pair then allegedly pounced on him after reaching an old riverbed and sexually assaulted him.

According to Spanish news outlet Levante, the holidaymaker told officers his clothes were torn from him before being forced to have sex with the pair.

Police have confirmed they are now hunting for two men "of Arabic origin with a French accent" who spoke only a few works of English.

The alleged victim attended Valencia's La Fe Hospital in wake of the ordeal.

Reporters confirmed that doctors found injuries consistent with rape during an examination.

No arrests have yet been made, with the suspects still at large.

The El Carmen neighbourhood is in the centre of Valencia's old town called the Ciutat Vella.

National Police in Valencia have been contacted for a comment regarding the incident.
