Liam O’Prey, 21, has been charged with the murder of Rico Burton in Altrincham on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police has said

O’Prey, of no fixed abode, has been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on August 24.

He was arrested following the death of Rico Burton, who was the cousin of world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury.

Mr Burton, 31, died after being stabbed outside a bar in the Goose Green area of Altrincham, Manchester in the early hours of Sunday morning.

His death led his boxer cousin to post an impassioned plea on social media to end knife crime, writing: “This needs to stop.”
