Officers were called to reports of a rape at a property in in the east London borough of Newham on 20 September.

Scotland Yard detectives have launched a manhunt to find a suspected rapist after a woman was attacked in east London.

Police have released an image of a man they want to question in connection with the attack just over a fortnight ago.

The image shows a man wearing a hooded jacket and was captured on CCTV near the scene of the attack.

Officers were called to reports of a rape at a property in Sprowston Mews, in the east London borough of Newham on 20 September.

Detectives said the victim continues to be supported by specialist officers.

Detective Constable Murad Talot, from the local policing team in east London, said:

“We are releasing this image today in the hope that someone will recognise this man and let us know who he is.

“Please take a careful look at the photo and if you think you can help, get in touch as soon as possible.

“Any information you have could be vital for our investigation.”

Anyone who thinks they know the man, or who has any other information, is asked not to approach the individual.

Instead, they are being urged to call police via the national 101 phone line.

Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
