Paramedics were called to reports of a child suffering a cardiac arrest at a home in Putney in the early hours of August 27.

A mother has been charged with causing or allowing the death of her 15-month-old child, and her boyfriend has been charged with the toddler’s murder.

Louise Lennon and Jake Drummond will appear in court on Friday over the death of Jacob Lennon in south-west London in 2019, the Metropolitan Police said.

Paramedics were called to reports of a child suffering a cardiac arrest at a home in Putney in the early hours of August 27.

Jacob was taken to hospital and pronounced dead soon afterwards.

A post-mortem examination carried out at Great Ormond Street Hospital two days later said he died from a head injury.

A man and a woman who were arrested on suspicion of murder were released on bail.

On Thursday, Drummond, 31, of no fixed address, was charged with murder and Section 18 wounding with intent.

Lennon, also 31, of Ingrave Street, Wandsworth, was charged with neglect of a child and causing or allowing the death of her son.

Drummond was remanded in custody to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court. Lennon was bailed to appear alongside him.
