Joe Biden will be isolating at the White House until he tests negative

Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid-19, the White House has confirmed.

The White House added that the US President was experiencing mild symptoms and will be isolating until he tests negative.

Mr Biden has begun taking a course of Paxlovid, his press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

In a statement, Mr Jean-Pierre said: "He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms."

"Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time."

Ms Jean-Pierre said Mr Biden had been speaking with his staff by phone and will continue to participate in meetings by phone and Zoom from the residence while he recovers.

The White House will provide a daily update on the President's health in the meantime, Ms Jean-Pierre said.
