Joe Biden has said there are 54 states in the US in the latest gaffe made by the President.

Mr Biden made the mistake during a speech at a Democrat campaign event in Pennsylvania.

During the speech, the US President recalls how Republicans had vowed to overturn the Affordable Care Act during midterm elections in 2018.

Mr Biden said: “And, of course, they’re going to try for the 499th time, or whatever the number is.

“They’re still determined to eliminate the Affordable Care Act.

“And, by the way, if they do that means, not a joke everybody, that’s why we defeated it in 2018 when they tried to do it.

“We went to 54 states.”

There are 50 states in the US, despite Mr Biden’s claims.

It comes just days after the US President Joe Biden appeared confused as he approached the White House following a tree planting event on the South Lawn.

Concerning footage shows the 79-year-old appearing to ask his staff "where do we go?" after he attended the event which honoured the White House groundskeeper.

After the security point him towards the right direction, he appears to exclaim that he wanted to go the other way.

Biden sarcastically remarks "you notice how much freedom I have?" as he follows the Secret Service.
