Mr Davidson also urged people who don't like certain jokes to "learn where the off switch is"

Jim Davidson has called for the end to “wokeness and political correctness” after fellow comedian Ricky Gervais was slammed for making a trans joke.

During a Netflix comedy special, Gervais described “old-fashioned” women as “f****** dinosaurs”, before claiming to love “new women”.

He added: “They’re great, aren’t they? The new ones we’ve been seeing lately.

“The ones with beards and c***. They’re as good as gold, I love them.

The special was described as comprising "dangerous" material by US LGBT group Glaad.

In the UK, Stonewall attacked him for "making fun of trans people".

But speaking on GB News’ Dan Wootton Tonight, Mr Davidson called on those that don’t like the jokes to “learn where the off switch is”, while also hitting out at people who “want to be a victim”.

He said: “Comedians are frightened to death to be funny now, not because they’re going to upset the audience.

“Dan you didn’t set this show so you could chase away all your viewers, you want viewers you want people to like you, you want people to like you.

“I bet you Ricky is sat there thinking ‘maybe I shouldn’t have said this’ and Netflix are saying ‘yes you should, it’s fantastic'.

“So maybe the people that moan about people should learn where the off switch is, what makes one person laugh doesn’t make the other person laugh.”

He continued: “What I’ve tried to do is to say, look this is unharmful comedy, unless you absolutely set out to want to be harmed, you want to be a victim.

“Unfortunately, that’s what’s going on.

“It’s the trans lobby now, it was the BLM lobby, what will it be next week.

“Everyone needs to lighten up, if you say you can’t do this, you can’t do that, it’s going to divide people rather than bring people together.

“Let’s get rid of this woke and political correctness, good old fashioned British courtesy, that’s what we want.”
