Mr Hunt is favourite to take over from Boris Johnson should he step down as Prime Minister

Jeremy Hunt as Prime Minister “would be a complete disaster”, Amanda Platell has told Dan Wootton.

Mr Hunt is the favourite to take over from Boris Johnson should he step down as Prime Minister.

Calls are growing for Mr Johnson to leave his role despite winning a confidence vote by 211 ballots to 148 earlier this week.

The vote came after Tory MPs questioned Mr Johnson’s leadership following the release of the Sue Gray report and the cost-of-living crisis.

Speaking about whether Mr Hunt would make a good prime Minister should he take over, Ms Platell gave a very clear opinion.

She said: "He promised we would get 5,000 extra GPs, guess how many we got, 300.

"Firstly he is a charisma bypass. He up against Keir Starmer would be like two ironing boards arguing, it would just be a distaste, he has no personality.

" But what worries me more about him is this coming through the back door to get us back o Europe, he is a Remainer, that’s all he cares about.

"And he would have us back there, god knows what would happen to the Northern Ireland situation, he probably would hand it straight back to Brussels.

"He’s a danger to this country."
