Kuku Machhal, 31, has been jailed for 18 months and placed on the sex offender's register for five years

Kuku Machhal, 31, has been jailed for 18 months after assaulting two women off Bournemouth beach.

The illegal immigrant, who lives in Southall, west London, touched the women in the sea on July 23 2021, Portsmouth Crown Court heard.

Friends of Machhal witnessed the incidents and could be heard cheering and laughing.

The attacks from Machhal were described by the judge as 'degrading.' Judge David Melville QC said Machhal was 'intimidating' and said both of the victims exhibited vulnerability in the water.

Machhal was prevented from leaving the beach by seafront security, after both victims reported him for groping them.

Machhal came to UK illegally from Punjab in India in 2015 and pleaded guilty to both counts of sexual assault.

He was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Machhal claimed in his police interview that the reason he touched the first victim was that a 'strong current brushed him into her.'

The illegal migrant has also denied he did anything wrong in relation to the second woman.

Machhal changed his plea to guilty at a prior court hearing.

Machhal's defence, Lesley Manley, told the court that his defendant was remorseful for his actions, however the judge did not agree.

Ms Manley claimed: 'On that day, Mr Machhal did not go there with any premeditated intention to do harm but obviously his behaviour was not what one would expect.

'Nothing like this has happened before and it is extremely unlikely, I submit, that this behaviour would ever be repeated.'

She added: 'Currently he is facing deportation. A notice has been served upon him and he is hoping to seek legal advice in relation to his immigration position.'

Judge Melville said: 'There was a degree of planning and you did of course have your friends with you as well.

'I do no accept that you are remorseful. When interviewed you accepted no personal responsibility at all.'

Alongside his sentence, Machhal has been placed on the sex offenders' register for five years.
