Ghislaine Maxwell's husband Scott Borgerson ended marriage with jail phone call says report

Ghislaine Maxwell found out that her husband had 'moved on' in a phone call behind bars.

Scott Borgerson, 46, married Maxwell secretly in 2016 after he left his first wife and mother of his two children.

A close friend of Maxwell's is reported to have said: 'There was a dramatic phone call between them, while she was in jail in solitary confinement. It became confrontational.

'Scott told her he had moved on and was seeing someone else.

'The marriage was past tense there and then. It's over. The marriage was over before the trial started'.

Tech CEO Borgerson had been living with Maxwell in a beachfront home in Manchester-on-Sea, Massachusetts.

When Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in 2019 for child sex crimes, Maxwell is reported to have left in order to 'protect her stepchildren'.

A source is reported to have told the Daily Mail: 'Once their home had been discovered she left, mostly to protect the children. They were being teased at school. Anyone associated with Ghislaine finds they become toxic.

'When Epstein died the Maxwell family decided to protect their sister from the media and people who might be out to hurt her. She had a lot of death threats. The Maxwells insisted on sending her away but Scott insisted he could protect her if someone tried to invade their property'.

Maxwell hired a former British special forces soldier, Matt Hellier to protect her and moved from 'safe house' to 'safe house' in a bid to remain protected.

They eventually bought a home 'Tukedaway' in tiny Bradford, New Hampshire for $1 million cash at the start of 2020.

In July 2020, FBI officers broke down the gates to the property and arrested Maxwell on the child sex charges and sex trafficking charges she was convicted of this week.

She faces a maximum of 65 years in jail.

A source told the Daily Mail 'At first Scott stood by her and wrote letters to the court and offered joint assets to try and get Ghislaine our on bail.

'But she has been behind bars for 549 days now. It put a terrible strain on the marriage'.
