Five arrested in connection with murder of Lyra Mckee in Northern Ireland

Detectives investigating the murder of journalist Lyra McKee on April 18, 2019, in Londonderry have arrested five men.

The men, a 20-year-old, two 21-year-olds, a 41 and 54-year-old were arrested in the Cityside of Londonderry this morning under the Terrorism Act.

They have been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast where they will be interviewed.

The 29-year-old was shot dead in Londonderry as she observed rioting in the Creggan area.

An extremist group styling itself the New IRA has previously claimed it was responsible for killing the journalist and author.
