Dad-of-three crashes Tesla while driving four times drinking limit on way to Alcoholics Anonymous meeting

A dad-of-three crashed his Tesla while driving four times the limit on the way to Alcoholics Anonymous.

Peter Scott, 52, was on his way to the meeting when he bought a bottle of vodka, parked up and drank it in his £65,000 Tesla, prosecutor Nick Smart told Stockport Magistrates' Court.

The Chief Executive and employer of 22 people was found with 131  micrograms of al­cohol in 100ml of breath, nearly four times the legal limit, when he crashed into a parked car in August.

Stockport magistrate Dominic Stone told him: “You knew full well in buying a bottle of vodka exactly what position you were putting yourself in.”

Scott of Bollington, Cheshire, admitted driving with excess alcohol and handed a three year driving ban, and a suspended jail term.

Magistrate Dominic Stone said Scott “knew what [he was] doing”, adding that “this offence is so serious that only custody is appropriate”.

Peter Casson defended his client, saying that he was a "good character" and "very open with the probation service"

"He makes no excuses for his behaviour. He knew on the day what he was doing and knew he ran the risk of being over the limit and being before the courts," Mr Casson added.

Peter Scott will now partake in an alcohol treatment programme, rehab, as well as paying £213 in costs.
