Katia Aveiro posted the heartfelt message alongside pictures of the couple

Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister has issued a heartfelt message after the death of the Manchester United footballer’s son.

Katia Aveiro 37, also referenced their father Dinis in the message, who died in 2005.


Alongside pictures of Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez with her two children, Ms Aveiro wrote: “I love you and my heart is with you over there. May God take care of you and strengthen your path more and more.

“Our angel is already on father's lap. And our little girl is there firm and strong and full of health and is going to show us with every day that only love matters.”

Her comments come after the couple confirmed the devastating news of their baby son’s death on Monday evening.

Ronaldo posted on Instagram: "It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.

"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctor and nurses for all their expert care and support.

"We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."

Messages of condolence have also been sent from across the football world, including his club Manchester United who wrote: “Your pain is our pain, sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”

While United teammate Marcus Rashford said: “Thoughts are with you and Georgina brother, I’m so sorry.”

Ronaldo’s former club Juventus added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Georgina and the whole family during this time.”
