The former prime minister is living in a property on a street where monthly rent can reach a staggering £30,000 a month

Boris Johnson has been spotted living in a £20million home in one of Britain’s poshest streets for free, despite earning a whopping £1million in the past six weeks alone.

It has been revealed that the former prime minister is currently living at a property in Knightsbridge “around the corner from Harrods” owned by Lady Carole Bamford, the wife of JCB tycoon Lord Bamford.

In his entry in the Register of Members Interest, Johnson declared the “concessionary use of accommodation for me and my family” provided by Lady Carole worth an estimated £10,000 a month for three months since the beginning of September.

He also declared the use of another property – again for himself and his family – owned by Lord Bamford and Lady Carole – worth £3,500 a month from mid-September to mid-December.

Homes in the Knightsbridge area are on the market to rent for as much as £30,000 a month.

Johnson has earned a sum total of £1million from just four speeches in the past six weeks as he enjoys more free time since being ousted as prime minister last year.

A spokesman for Johnson said “All of Boris Johnston’s interests including accommodation are properly registered and published in the Register of Members Interests.”

A source close to Johnson said that the former prime minister was paying to live in the property but did not reveal how much.
