Mr Grant's wife, Susan broke the news on social media, saying: "I have no words"

Batman legend Alan Grant has died aged 73, his family has confirmed.

The British writer, who is best known for his work on Batman, also worked on Judge Dredd and other comic books throughout his career.


Mr Grant's wife, Susan, broke the news of his death on social media on Thursday.

Ms Grant wrote on Facebook: "I have no words. Alan died this morning."

Tributes have began to pour in for Mr Grant, with artist and writer Liam Sharp saying: "He was a towering presence in comics and a force of nature in life.

"Changes in circumstances meant I have not seen him for far too long and I had been meaning to put that right."

While author Ivor Davis desribed Mr Grant as "one of a kind".

Mr Davis said in a statement: "RIP Alan, you were one of a kind."
