With thousands of workers returning to the office today after the final bank holiday of the festive period, many will already be planning their 2022 holidays.

With holidaymakers unsure as to whether they're able to head overseas for their breaks this year, a Great British staycation may prove to be a popular option.

To maximise your holiday time, here's a breakdown of this year's bank holidays...

By taking annual leave the right time, you could squeeze 45 days of holiday for just 18 days of annual leave.

According to KentLive, if you have booked off the 3rd of January through to the 7th, you would be get nine days off for the price of five.

This may be too late for some, who have already gone back to the office, but there are plenty of other opportunities to maximise your holiday throughout the year.

In Easter, workers could take off the 19th-22nd of April and be off for a whopping ten straight days for the price of four thanks to Good Friday falling on April 15th and Easter Monday landing on April 18th this year.

By booking off May 3, 4, 5 and 6 staff will have nine days off for the price of four. This is because the May bank holiday falls on the 2nd in 2022.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee also provides another bank holiday opportunity.

By booking off May 30th and 31st as well as the 1st June, you can get nine days of holiday by only taking three days off.

The Queen's Jubilee celebration is scheduled to take place on June 2nd and 3rd.

Moving into August, if you book off the 30th August through to the 2nd of September, you'll get nine days off for the price of four, as the August bank holiday arrives on the 29th this year.

In December, by booking off the 28th, 29th and 30th you will be off from Christmas Eve to New Years' Day.

That's eight days for the price of four!
