All WhatsApp users told to update their settings urgently - 'Do it now!'

Users should check their three WhatsApp settings are up to date
WhatsApp users need to update three settings to get the latest features for 2023.
The app now lets you hide your online status, known as “stealth mode”, which is an update from users hiding their last seen status – but not the fact they’re online.
Firstly, WhatsApp needs to be the latest version, then simply go to Settings before clicking Privacy followed by Last Seen and online which is under Account.
Users can find the new options under the bottom section called: "Who can see me when I’m online".
Following the update, WhatsApp said: "Seeing when friends or family are online helps us feel connected to one another.

"But we’ve all had times when we wanted to check our WhatsApp privately.
"For the times you want to keep your online presence private, we’re introducing the ability to select who can and can’t see when you’re online."
Another feature added includes an automatic self-destruction setting for new texts after a day.
The new update which boosts privacy destroys old WhatsApp messages under two options after 24 hours and 90 days.
In total there are now four options for disappearing messages: 24 hours, seven days, 90 days or off.

Users can change the feature by going to Settings followed by Account and then Privacy where the option to turn on Default Message Timer can be found.
A new metaverse avatar is also available which can be shared in 36 different sticker styles while chatting on the app.
WhatsApp said: "Your avatar is a digital version of you that can be created from billions of combinations of diverse hair styles, facial features, and outfits.
"Sending an avatar is a fast and fun way to share feelings with friends and family.

"It can also be a great way to represent yourself without using your real photo so it feels more private.
"For many people this will be the first time creating an avatar and we'll continue to deliver style enhancements including lighting, shading, hair style textures, and more that will make avatars even better over time."
Avatars can also be used as a WhatsApp picture rather than your own face.
Those wanting to create their own should go to Settings, click Avatar and then Create Your Avatar.
