Abba Voyage: Watch livestream here as Swedish pop group tease release of new music

The Swedish pop group, formed in the 1970s, have teased the release of their new project on a YouTube livestream at 5.45pm today

Pop group Abba will unveil a new project later today, teasing the release of their first new project in decades.

The Swedish pop group tweeted their new project, called Abba Voyage, saying they "are so excited to share the future of Abba with you" on a YouTube livestream set for 5.45pm today.


Although not confirmed, fans will be hopeful that it could mean the first release of new music for 39 years.

The bands bio on Twitter reads: "Thank you for waiting, the journey is about to begin."

It lists the names of all four original Abba members, Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, which suggests they are all involved in the new announcement.

The Sun newspaper reported that the Abba Voyage will be their new tour which will feature holograms of their younger selves beamed onto the stage. A source told the newspaper: “Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Anni-Frid will all be there on the opening night.

“And they will finally unveil their Abba-tars, which are like holograms of themselves.

“The show will feature the Abba-tars performing and speaking to the audience. It will be like taking a step back in time for those watching.

“Fans should hold on to their hats because this is going to be one wild ride.”

Billboards have also appeared in London, tasing the announcement due later today. In 1974 the band became the fir Swedish act to win the Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo.

The band as formed in 1972 and they secured nine number one singles and nine number one albums.

They spent 31 weeks at the top of the UK singles chart and 57 weeks at number one in the album chart. Abba sold more than 30 million records worldwide.
